A small number of custom homes and whole-house renovations each year in Edmond, Nichols Hills, and Oklahoma City — built under one builder's direct supervision, start to finish.
Since 2007 · More than 200 homes
The premise
Fewer houses, watched more closely.
Most of what goes wrong in a custom home goes wrong quietly — a framing detail nobody caught, a flashing decision made by whoever was on site that morning, a selection ordered before anyone checked the opening. None of it shows up in a rendering. All of it shows up in ten years.
Kensington takes a deliberately limited schedule so the person whose name is on the company is the person walking the job. Every trade partner is vetted, carries their own general liability, and names us as additional insured. Nothing is subbed to whoever is cheapest that month.
What we do
Three ways we work.
Custom Homes
Ground-up construction on your lot or ours, built to an architect's drawings — for the Edmond, Nichols Hills, and north Oklahoma City estate market.
Renovations
Whole-house and major-scope remodels: additions, kitchens and primary suites, structural reworking, and full restorations of older homes worth restoring.
Pre-Construction
Lot evaluation, feasibility, and real budget work before you commit — done alongside your architect, so the drawings and the number arrive at the same place.
Portfolio
The work, room by room.
Selected rooms and elevations from homes built by our principal. Client houses are shown by the work, not by the address.

How it goes
Six stages, in order.
A custom home is a sequence. Skipping ahead is how budgets break.
Feasibility & Budget
Before drawings are finished: lot review, soils and drainage, utilities, setbacks, and any HOA architectural control. We put a real number against your program — not a per-square-foot guess — so you find out early whether the house you want fits the site and the budget.
Design & Selections
We work alongside your architect and interior designer while the drawings develop, pricing assemblies as they're decided. Selections are made and ordered ahead of the trades that install them — the single largest source of delay in custom work.
Contract & Permitting
A written agreement with defined scope, allowances you can actually see, and a change-order process agreed before anyone needs it. Permits pulled with the City of Edmond or Oklahoma City; trade partner insurance and lien waivers on file before a truck arrives.
Construction
Continuous on-site supervision, not a monthly drive-by. Structural, mechanical, and envelope details are verified before they're covered. You get regular photo updates and a schedule that reflects what's actually happening on the job.
Punch & Closeout
A walk-through with a written list, cleared before you move in rather than after. Manuals, warranties, paint schedules, and as-built information handed over in one organized package.
Warranty
A first-year warranty with a real point of contact, plus a walk at eleven months to catch anything that has moved or settled while it's still covered.
About
The company.
Kensington Building Co. is a builder's company. Its principal has been building in central Oklahoma since 2007, with more than 200 homes completed. Kensington is the entity that residential work now carries forward under. The company takes on custom homes and serious renovations in the Edmond and Oklahoma City estate market.
That record also includes thousands of multifamily units delivered as a commercial general contractor. It is not what Kensington builds — but it is where the discipline comes from. Buyout, scheduling, and cost control run at a scale most custom builders never see, brought back down to one house at a time.
The model is deliberately narrow. Kensington superintends; it does not self-perform. Every trade on the job is an independent specialist chosen for that scope, carrying their own general liability with Kensington named as additional insured. What Kensington provides is the judgment in between — sequencing, detailing, cost control, and someone accountable standing on the site.
We take a limited number of projects a year so that the person who sells the work is the person running it. You walk the job directly with the builder — from the first look at the lot through the eleven-month warranty visit.
